Sites listed in 1987 by the coastal Conservatory. In fine weather, the English coast 28 km away and the long fine sandy beaches on the French coast can be seen from the top of the sandstone cliffs of Cap Gris-Nez. The chalk cliffs of Cap Blanc-Nez rise to 130m above sea level. In this area, highly appreciated by bird-watchers, numerous migratory and non-migratory birds nest, including the herring gull, fulmar petrel and cormorant. A lighthouse, with a range of 45 km, isolated at the tip of the peninsula covered by a blockhouse, plays an important part in this strait, used daily by over 500 ships.

The fine sandy beaches of the Opal Coast stretch out over 50 kilometres, successively broken by the Baie de Canche, the Baie d’Authie and the Baie de Somme. In summer, the seaside offers numerous relaxation and leisure activities for all: beach games, sailing, windsurfing, land yachting… The extent of the beaches is such that it is always possible to find a peaceful spot for spending a pleasant moment, communing with the elements.
